It’s simple: so you can remember the biggest parts of your life that always seem to fly by in an instant. So that when the babies have turned into toddlers and when the kids start getting taller than the adults, you’ve got something to look back on beyond the quick snaps on your phone. And so you can make memories and get the joy-filled photos that document the story of you and the ones you love.

After your session, I’ll get your photos turned around as quickly as I can. I sort, select, and edit the very best images so that you’ve got a large selection of colorfully bright photos to choose from. Expect your maternity photos within 2 weeks (so that you can hopefully have them *before* baby arrives) and all others within 4-6 weeks.

I don’t believe in restricting the number of delivered images to any set number. If I have great shots, you’re going to get them. My family sessions average 150 delivered images per hour of shooting.

A lifestyle newborn session captures you and your baby in a realistic and artistic way, using natural light and nurturing poses. Shot at home or in my comfortably-appointed downtown Ottawa studio, these images are captured without the use of backdrops, studio lighting, or any composite posing. I believe a lifestyle session brings the most beautiful and authentic reminders of your brand new family. Please note, I do not offer births or other in-hospital sessions.

I usually recommend scheduling your maternity session for when you’re 24-36 weeks along, depending on how big you want your bump to be in the photos!

While I encourage you to think about what will make your own child’s milestone session one-of-a-kind, I do offer some basic styling options, including a child-sized teepee, O-N-E letters, crates, colored backdrops, etc. Ultimately you’re responsible for bringing the specific themed items that you’d like to include, but let’s chat about ideas for making your vision come to life.

Absolutely! You bring the cake and I’ll capture the photos to remember it in all its messy glory. Keep in mind that your child’s cake smash will be captured within the hour of scheduled coverage, so if you think you’ll need additional time, that can be added at my hourly rate ($100/hr). I also have toppers and cake stands available for use if you need.

Conveniently located in downtown Ottawa, my studio is the perfect location for your family group of up to 8 people, lifestyle newborn, or milestone shoot (accommodating up to 8 people). Its boho, contemporary style offers a fresh and neutral backdrop when you’re looking for something different outside of your house.

I can get a good sense of someone’s willingness to be there within minutes of getting going. And there’s usually one in the crowd whose idea of a photo shoot sounds about as fun as a trip to the dentist. So it’s important to me to keep these sessions light-hearted and full of laughs. No stiff poses, no dragging things on while everyone loses interest, no need to make Grandpa Mark get into a human pyramid — unless he’s the one who suggests it! And for the younger subjects, I keep things high-energy and moving with favorite toys and songs — and I’m not opposed to a little food bribing either!
